Jaroslav Šimáček - Diploma Thesis Abstract The diploma thesis "Presidents of the Czech Republic - Medial representations of Václav Havel and Václav Klaus" analyses media images of presidents of Czech Republic Václav Havel and Václav Klaus in magazine Týden. After delimination president's role in czech political system and introducing to concrete heads of the state in the biographical part, author deals with media's role and function in contemporary world. At the same time he brings out medial communication manners and generation media images. Consequently he examines new technological possibilities in medial world plus procedure at media content analysis, which is chosen as main method. In methodology part author links hypotheses, concerning with media images of czech presidents, also describes concrete working methods and characterizes choice of medium. Select experimental period is the second presidential term of both presidents. In practical part author tries to prove or disprove given hypotheses. The research proceeds first of all in the internet archive of magazine Týden, that contains data since 1994 and is relatively well - aranged. ANO 2011 and SPD from the theory of populism

This diploma thesis analyzes some of the most successful movements in the Czech Republic - ANO and Svoboda a přímá demokracie Tomio Okamury through the content analysis and the theory of populism by Cas Mudd. The aim of the thesis is to determine to what extent both movements are populist in view of the theory mentioned above and how their populism is different. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first one - the theoretical part is devoted to the concept of populism. In this part three most distinctive streams of populism research are presented: 1) populism as a political (communication) style 2) populism as a strategy and 3) populism as an ideology. The second one - the analytical part includes a methodology in which the criteria for determining what populism is by using the populist core features defined by Francisco Panniza and Cas Mudd are defined. Subsequently, I analyze the content analysis of programming and media representation involving the Facebook social network of both political entities. The results of the analysis are that ANO and SPD - Tomio Okamury fulfill the criteria of all three core features in their media presentations and therefore can be described as populist. The analysis of the media representation of the French president election 2017 in dailies MF Dnes and Právo

The French President election is always a highly watched event worldwide. The French president is one of the most influential European politics, stability of France is reflected in other parts of the European continent. President election is always very important topic for a media, which is analyzed from all possible sides. The presidential campaign in France was characterized by a strong words from the candidates and the election results was expected event worldwide. Marine Le Pen, chairwoman of the National Front, stepped to the final round of the president election. The contrast of her personality and later winner Emanuel Macron has added a special charge to the presidential campaign. I discussed in this bachelor thesis how two Czech media MF Dnes and Právo informed about French president election. I analyzed id and tries to find answer, if media informed about this event objectively and what priority did they give to this event. I also discussed a possible question, if the dailies did not bother one of the candidates in their articles. Both selected media have a different spectrum of readers in the Czech Republic. Medial portrayal of single parents in daily press

The aim of the thesis was to investigate how single parents is presented in daily press. Single parents is an important today social problem so I find this as an important research field. The media have the power to influence our thoughts and opinions. I wonder who has the opportunity to comment in the media, what the distribution of individual information sources are and who talks about this (laymen, sociologist, psychologists or representatives of various organizations). The research was conducted through quantitative and qualitative content analysis. This thesis focuses on the differences between people who talks about single parents and also tries to point out how "single mother" is displayed by media and what it means for us.
